Timeless creations in style and silhouette from Lina Tipnis
Oct '08
Lina Tipnis has always been a designer of timeless creations and her Collection for Spring/Summer 2009 at Lakme Fashion Week was a creative experiment in style and silhouette.

Making a comeback at the Lakme Fashion week after a gap of several seasons; Lina played with surface darts that were controlled and gave Lina's range that interesting construction edge. Based on the theme "less is more" Lina's look was created not only for the Indian, but the international buyer too.

Starting with a tiny pleated ivory skirt with creatively used surface darts to form floral patterns on the garments; the line moved onto tiny organza shrugs, frilled bolero with smocking, micro skirts, shirts with embroidered collars and wide cuffs and then moved onto some butterfly prints in black for a puff sleeve smock.

The colour palette was muted for organza, silk and satin which were used to create outfits for the modern woman on the move. The comfortable fluid palazzos in an abstract print in shades of brown were practical.

While the flared black mini skirt with rhinestones on the waist, the silver raw silk dress with embroidered neckline, the very striking one shoulder black mini with a wide diamante cuff and the grey cowl embroidered dress were the eye catchers in the show.

The final black sheath with a low back embellished with rows of diamonds was worn by socialite Chayya Momaya

Lina Tipnis scored with her very stylish yet completely commercially viable collection that will surely fly off the racks next season.
