New courses in vocational and technical institutions under National Vocational and Technical Education Commission (NAVTEC) are set to begin from November 15, 2008.
A total of Rs181.7 million has been allocated by the Commission to the institutions for organizing these new classes and other related activities.
Reportedly, 40 percent of this amount was provided to the vocational institutions for the first phase and another 40 percent will be released after three months. The rest is being set aside for latter months.
Pakistan Readymade Garments Training Institute (PRGTI), Punjab Vocational Training Institute, and Leather Products Development Institute Sialkot are among the institutions which received the grant.
Students will be trained in leather garments and accessories, pattern making and fashion designing, leather manufacturing technology, computerized garments pattern making and designing (CAD CAM/CIM) technology as well beautician and tailoring.
