Elena among top five finalists at UK Young Fashion Entrepreneur Awards

Elena Corchero a young fashion designer has won a trip to India after being named a finalist at the British Council's UK Young Fashion Entrepreneur Awards. She runs a company by the name of Lost Values which led her to winning the award.
Her company, found last July, specializes in developing products that recapture values lost over time by integrating them with the latest technologies. Her collections include clothing containing solar cells and soft toys that help parents record personalized messages.
Elena Corchero is an experienced fashion and interaction designer with fine arts background and specialist knowledge in smart textiles through work on wearable technologies as a research associate in MIT Media Lab Europe Human Connectedness.
Recently graduated from MA Textile Futures at Central Saint Martins, Elena has developed new aesthetics for solar wearable technologies, inspired in tradition and antique embellishment techniques. Dedicated to fashion design and production from a very early age where hands-on experience was gained in every aspect of the family business.
In being among the top five finalists at the awards, she has got the opportunity with five other finalists to visit India and interact with designers and understand better the Indian fashion industry.
The UK Young Fashion Entrepreneur Award is one of nine awards for creative entrepreneurs that have been developed by the British Council with support from the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts and the cultural leadership programme.
Over 30 fashion entrepreneurs applied for the award and nine candidates went through the grueling interviews with the judges, which included Ms Anna Orsini from the British Fashion Council.
Judges will evaluate each candidate on their leadership skills, originality of ideas, international outlook, entrepreneurial ability and market awareness among many. The winner will be announced at London Fashion Week in February.
