LFMEAB calls on government to maintain law and order

The Leather goods and Footwear Manufacturers and Exporters of Bangladesh (LFMEAB) denounced the attacks on the property of 25 factories in Jirabo, Savar on October 14, an official of LFMEAB said.

Picard Bangladesh Ltd, a German-Bangladesh joint venture and Leatherex Footwear Ind Ltd, both leading unit members of LFMEAB were attacked during the incident.

With 28 percent export growth last year, the leather goods and footwear segment has begun afresh on the exports front. Not, feel industry insiders that such acts will force foreign buyers hesitate before placing orders.

As the government maintains law and order situation, LFMEAB appealed to ensure that such image tarnishing episodes do not occur in the future.
