Talbots rolls out Holiday Style program

Leading specialty retailer Talbots is celebrating the start of the holiday season tonight with 550 simultaneous "Hostess Events" across the country.

As part of a national grass roots event, 550 Talbots locations from Maine to California each selected a customer to host and organize an event to celebrate the holidays while shopping and tasting chocolate-covered strawberries and cookies with all her friends. Talbots launched this initiative in September 2008 with nearly 70 "Hostess" events, 10 of which included L'Oreal spokeswoman and author, Dayle Haddon. Following the events' success, Talbots rolled out the program across the country. Often described as the quintessential hostess, the events were inspired by Nancy Talbot, who founded the Company in 1947 with her husband Rudolph. Talbots "Hostess Events" will be an ongoing platform in the brand's aggressive event marketing strategy.

"Initially designed as a targeted marketing strategy to reintroduce loyal customers to our refreshed look, the response from both long time customers and first time visitors has been unbelievable," said Lori Wagner, Chief Marketing Officer of the Talbots brand. "As the holidays and entertaining go hand-in-hand, these hostess events give us the perfect opportunity to toast the season with our customers - all within the comforts of our own stores."

The Talbots, Inc. is a leading specialty retailer and direct marketer of women's apparel, shoes and accessories. The Company currently operates stores in 876 locations in 47 states, the District of Columbia, and Canada, with 594 locations under the Talbots brand name and 282 locations under the J. Jill brand name.
