BC's applied artists and designers are invited to enter a submission or nomination for the 5th annual BC Creative Achievement Awards for Applied Art and Design.
An artist may be nominated or self-submit to these juried awards. Up to three awards of $2,500 will be presented at a formal ceremony in the late spring of 2009.
Presented by the British Columbia Achievement Foundation, the awards recognize BC's rich and diverse creative culture. The British Columbia Achievement Foundation is an independent foundation, established and endowed by the Province of British Columbia in 2003 to celebrate excellence in community service, arts, humanities and enterprise.
Artists and designers, resident in BC for at least three years, who work in jewelry, glass, wood, fibre, clay and metal or in such areas as (but not limited to) textiles, furniture, weaving, ceramics, book binding, paper, fashion and industrial design are eligible to enter the fifth annual BC Creative Achievement Awards for Applied Art and Design. Omer Arbel (industrial design), Yael Krakowski (jewelry design), Sarah Lawless (pottery), Kinichi Shigeno (ceramics), and Angelika Werth (costume and fashion design) were selected as the 2008 recipients.
