For Autumn / Winter 2009, Michael Herz, Aquascutum's Head of Design, Womenswear, blended both the classic and the inventive to cement the brand's position as a global, luxury British fashion brand.
Shown as part of London Fashion Week at The Saatchi Gallery in London, Herz invited some of the most recognisable British faces of the eighties and nineties to model the Autumn / Winter collection – Stella Tennant, Susie Bick, Yasmin Le Bon, Cecilia Chancellor and Jenny Howarth. Walking alongside were some of the biggest names on the global stage from the new generation – Jessica Stam, Alyona Osmanova and Alek Wek, plus British faces Jourdan Dunn and Daisy Lowe.
This combination recognises not only the strength of Aquascutum's position as a British heritage brand that has adapted to a modern marketplace, but vitally acknowledges that the Aquascutum customer is both global and diverse.
To underscore the Britishness of the label and keeping a keen eye on its heritage, Michael Herz worked with the house check and with classic hound's tooth fabrics to create a quintessentially modern British collection.
