Gear Drive Design receives $38,000 grant for TCF innovation

Senator Stephens congratulated local company, Gear Drive Design Pty Ltd, on receiving $38,000 in funding under the Australian Government's Textile, Clothing and Footwear (TCF) Small Business Program.
"This result is great news for Gear Drive Design and Gilmore, in what was a hotly contested round of funding," Dr Stephens said.
“This funding will be a spring board for the company to further strengthen its business enterprise culture and boost its competitiveness and efficiency."
"Gear Drive Design has been operating since 2000 expanding their business to cover all aspects of production from initial design and marketing to manufacturing sports garments in Australia. The funding will allow Gear Drive Design to purchase, install, and test a sublimation printing machine along with training on the machine that will contribute to a "fast response" culture, improved product quality and efficiencies across the supply chain."

Gear Drive Design Pty Ltd was one of 68 Australian small businesses to be offered funding totalling $2.6 million recently announced by Innovation Minister, Senator Kim Carr. Grants range up to a maximum of $50,000.
The TCF Small Business Program is providing $25 million in grants over 10 years to Australia's small designers and manufacturers.
AusIndustry, which runs the program, is responsible for more than 30 programs to help Australian businesses. They include innovation grants, tax and duty concessions, small business development, industry support and venture capital.
"I encourage local businesses to give AusIndustry a call, and see how they might be able to help your company become more innovative and competitive," Dr Stephens said.
