The annual Awards' celebration of excellence in fashion exports takes on a new look for 2010 with the addition of textiles to the competition as well as Europe's most prestigious exhibition organisers and media partners presenting prizes of stands and press and marketing packages.

Organised by UK Fashion Exports, the export division of the UK Fashion and Textile Association (UKFT), the 2010 UK Fashion & Textile Export Awards' categories have been selected to reflect the products that are in demand overseas and the sponsors' prizes to assist winners develop their international trade.

They are:
Accessories (Pure/Drapers)
Contemporary Urban, a new category (The Brandery Barcelona)
Designer Business ((Prêt à Porter Paris)
Heritage (ITE MODA)
High Octane Glamour (London24.com)
Lingerie/beachwear (Salon de la Lingerie/Mode City)
New Exporter (VOGUE.COM UK)
Small Business (UK Fashion and Textile Association)
Textiles (Première Vision)

Headline sponsor HSBC Commercial Bank will once again present the Gold Award and the event is also supported by Scottish Development International and WGSN.com.

Open to both burgeoning and established companies, small exporters and giants of international trade, deadline for entry to the Awards is Friday 26 February 2010. HRH The Princess Royal will present the trophies at a lunch on 13 May 2010 at The Landmark London. Following this year's success, the Awards will once again be hosted by actress and campaigner Joanna Lumley.

According to Paul Alger, deputy director, UKFT, being shortlisted for, or even winning, an Award, “tells the world unequivocally that the business is an international player and is a great encouragement to all who work for a successful exporter by recognising the contribution of the whole team."

“As trade exhibitions play such an important role in helping UK fashion and textile exporters make contact with buyers, we are delighted that many of our sponsors are providing coveted stands as prizes. With press coverage a key component in wooing buyers it is also important to have the involvement of top media partners,” explains Alger.

“Given the tough economic climate, UKFT will offer, for the first time, a cash prize to the winner of the small business category.”
