Gear Up! at Fashion Access - change is the default mode

Fashion Access, the twice-a-year fashion event in Hong Kong offering a wide range of design-focused, quality fashion products is launching a new sector zoning concept as part of its evolution to become Asia's 'Total Look' fashion fair.

Named in the spirit of the fair's Fashion Up! motto, the zones - or fashion atmospheres - will help facilitate navigation and enable exhibitors and buyers to identify each other more readily.

Gear Up! is the name of a brand new area dedicated to leather goods and business items, which include Hats, Belts, Gloves, Key chains, Wallets as well as Briefcases, Leather desktop stationary and Premium business gifts.

The newly created Gear Up! serves to meet the growing importance of these product categories, previously considered a fringe offer of Fashion Access from its Bags and Footwear core. The number says it all: with over three months until the fair's opening, Gear Up! exhibitors have already confirmed over 1000 sq metres of space.

“For an industry dedicated to constant flux, change is the default mode,” says Perrine Ardouin, senior event manager of Fashion Access.

“Consumers today are engaged by a head-to-toe shopping experience where the emphasis is on individual styling. In retail, we can already see concept lifestyle stores replacing traditional specialist boutiques…Fashion Access is making the same evolution but on the level of b2b trade.”

The remaining 4 fashion atmospheres are Step Up! (shoes), Carry Up! (bags), Move Up! (Travelware) and Style Up! (Garments) – covering the fashion spectrum from 'head to toe'. They will be held alongside the fair's branded and designer area Fashion Avenue, which has already confirmed 40% more exhibitors than the same time as last year. Also returning, by request of the industry, is Sustainable World - dedicated to fashion products born from socially-responsible or eco-friendly endeavours.

Equally widely represented are price points for all product segments. The key words here are quality and affordability, making the fair a must-attend event for buyers from both established and developing markets.

In addition to product variety and price, ODM and OBM exhibitors provide buyers with a wide selection of design and branding options.

A further attraction to many buyers is that Fashion Access in March runs concurrently with two other APLF-organised events in related fields: Materials, Manufacturing & Technology (MM&T) and Prime Source Form.

MM&T is Asia's largest and most international exhibition for the raw materials and leather industries. Prime Source Forum brings together top executives from the global apparel industry, many representing leading international brands, in a non-competitive environment where participants can freely discuss and examine industry issues common to them all.

The upcoming Fashion Access will be held in Hong Kong, March 29 – 31, 2010, at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre, Wanchai, the hub of Hong Kong's business and entertainment sectors.
