DHL, the world's leading express and logistics company, is calling for emerging fashion exporters to enter the DHL Express Fashion Export Scholarship.

The scholarship aims to identify Australia's hottest up-and-coming fashion exporter and assist them in achieving international growth. It is open to Australian fashion designers who have been exporting for less than four years.

DHL Express Senior Vice President for Oceania, Gary Edstein, says, "We are pleased to continue our support of the fashion industry in this way. This is an important sector in Australia's exporting landscape and we are excited about the opportunity to work with a designer and expand their international exporting potential."

The winner of the scholarship will receive international freight to the value of AU$10,000 and coaching in freight and logistics from DHL Express.

Designers of New Zealand label Stolen Girlfriends Club, Marc Moore, Dan Gosling and Luke Harwood, were the first New Zealand winners of the scholarship in 2008.

“The scholarship allowed us to realise our business goals and push our expectations further. We worked closely with DHL Express to take advantage of the scholarship and expand our label internationally,” says Dan Gosling, Director of Stolen Girlfriends Club.

The label is now sold in the US, Australia, the UK, Japan, China, Singapore, Hong Kong and Dubai, as well as being picked up by one of the most popular online retailers, ASOS.

“The last two years have been amazing. We have taken our label all over the world and seen our clothes on the backs of some influential celebrities, musicians and style icons, including Beyonce Knowles, Juliette Lewis and Agyness Deyn,” says Dan Gosling.

Gary Edstein, says, "The scholarship presents a significant opportunity for one very talented emerging fashion exporter; providing export services and industry-specific intelligence at just the right time to help grow their business internationally."

Entrants are invited to complete an official application and submit a design portfolio, which will be judged by fashion industry leaders. Entries will be judged across a variety of categories, including: design, marketing, business and export.
