The five-day event will be inaugurated by prime minister Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and will feature over 500 exhibitors from 28 nations.

A contingent of 47 leading Indian gem and jewellery firms, led by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) will be participating at the event.

“The Middle East promises to be an astounding market that shows a great affinity towards gems and jewellery,” said GJEPC chairman, Bakul Mehta.

“It is a very large market in terms of volumes of sales, having very distinctive and mature market trends.

In addition, the demand for jewellery is continuously growing because of high disposable incomes and soaring population growth rates,” Mehta added.

As an added incentive, the Bahrain Commerce and Industry ministry's Precious Metals and Gem Testing Directorate will be offering free jewellery evaluations at the event.

Experts will be on hand at the directorate's stand to inform buyers about the authenticity of their purchases.
