IMG Fashion announced that it has signed a five year agreement to partner with the Japan Fashion Week Organization (JFWO), which organises and manages Tokyo Collection Week held biannually in Tokyo. IMG Fashion will act as JFWO's sole and exclusive representative for the exploitation of sponsorship rights.

IMG Fashion will help to maximise the efficiency of a series of industry and consumer events that make up Tokyo Collection Week staged by the JFWO.

JFWO has been created to strengthen the competitive power of the Japanese textile and fashion industry, and to encourage growth. It is also designed to further increase Tokyo's reputation as a significant textile and fashion hub. The event brings together manufacturers in the textile and fashion industries, fashion designers and distributors from across Japan, greater South East Asia and the world.

"This is a very exciting partnership," said Mr. Peter Levy, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of IMG Fashion, Worldwide. "Tokyo Collection Week is one of the more significant fashion events held annually and has reached a stage in its lifecycle where it is capable of achieving substantial growth. Our globally connected team at IMG Fashion is ready to take on this challenge and work closely with the JFWO to realize the event's true potential."

Mr. Akira Baba, Chairman of the JFWO said, “On behalf of the JFWO we are delighted to be working closely with IMG Fashion. Its international network and understanding of our business objectives were integral considerations in forming this partnership. We look forward to working with IMG's globally connected team with one common goal of harnessing an exciting new future for Japan's fashion industry.”

Tokyo Collection Week has a commercial partnership platform already, but it is expected that a more robust menu of benefits, being jointly developed by the JFWO and IMG Fashion, will help attract greater corporate interest and investment into the event.

“Tokyo Collection Week has a large collection of fashion related industry sponsors (textile/cosmetic/media) connected with the event, and there are significant opportunities for mainstream corporate brands. IMG is the world's most successful sponsorship agency and will deploy best practice to generate market defining sponsorship revenues for the JFWO,” said Mr. Martin Jolly, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of IMG, Asia Pacific.

Last season Tokyo Collection Week welcomed over 30,000 visitors to the event and staged 44 shows as part of its official schedule in Tokyo Midtown. The 11th edition of Tokyo Collection Week will take place from 18-22 October, 2010, to showcase the Spring Summer 2011 season.
