This slpit is wide open now, as Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) and Lakme have parted ways.
Consumer giant Hindustan Lever's Cosmetics Division has decided to go it all alone in staging the premier fashion event of India to be held in Mumbai.
Meanwhile, Lakme India and IMG have joined hands to organise their own fashion week titled 'Lakme Fashion Week' in Mumbai at National Centre for Performing Arts, during March 28 - April 1, 2006.
Announcing the event in Mumbai, Anil Chopra, Vice President, Lakme Lever stated that besides Delhi-Mumbai issue, the reason of split was higher marketing fee of FDCI.
As for the designers, Mumbai has vast opportunity, which should not be ignored as it has been for the last three years, he added.
The participants will come with their ready-to-wear and diffusion lines and present them before national and international buyers and media from US, Europe and Asia-Pacific.
Along with designers' displays, the event will have exhibition stalls, business seminars and workshops.
