Charming Shoppes' D J Bern honored with GPCC'06 Paradigm Award

The Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce (GPCC) announced that Dorrit J. Bern, CEO of Leading multi-channel specialty apparel retailer Charming Shoppes Inc has been selected as the recipient of the 2006 Paradigm Award, the region's most prestigious award for businesswomen.
The Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce will honor Bern for her outstanding professional and personal achievements at the Paradigm Award Luncheon in March 2006.
Bern is one of only 19 female CEOs among all Fortune 1000 companies. Charming Shoppes, Inc., based in Bensalem, PA, employs 30,000 associates, owns 2,300 stores and 13 catalogs. Charming Shoppes Inc. is the nation's third largest specialty retailer and has annualized revenue of nearly $3 billion.
"This is a proud moment for us. With roots in Philadelphia, we're a growing local company with global efforts now being recognized by our own Philadelphia business community," said Ms. Bern. "This award is gratifying for Charming Shoppes as well as our family of brands - Lane Bryant, Catharine, Fashion Bug and our catalog division, Crosstown Traders."
Charming Shoppes is the second largest seller of women's plus-size apparel with 20 percent market share and more than 1,700 stores in the 48 continuous states. In June 2005, Charming Shoppes acquired Crosstown Traders, Inc. – a direct marketer of women's apparel, footwear, accessories and specialty gifts.
