IIFT SURAT with eye-catchers of Fashion Show at LFW

IIFT SURAT grabbed the golden opportunity of attending the LAKME FASHION WEEK twice on Friday 11th of March & on Sunday 13th of March. Students were taken to Lakme Fashion Week at Grand Hyatt Hotel.

The whole excitement of visiting the most awaited event was very much seen clearly on the faces of students. The enthusiasm level was on peak. The students were firstly taken to the source area where the stalls of renowned designers were allocated.

There, the students got candid with the famous celebrities, like- Kashmira Shah, Riya Sen, Manish Malhotra, Mayank Anand, Shraddha Nigam, Satya Paul, Shantanu & Nikhil & many more. On each & every stall, the students spent 10-15 minutes & gathered knowledge about the fabrics, colors & designs. All the designers were very cooperative & showed their great interest in our students. The entire source area proved to be informative & of great help to our fashion students.

Henceforth, On Sunday, 13th March, some of our staff members & students were taken to Lakme Fashion Week for attending the Fashion Show. I was the lucky one over there to watch the most happening event LIVE!!! We were so excited that they couldn't believe our eyes when we saw the sizzling models on the ramp. That view was just awesome. We were swayed away by the designs of the fabulous designers at the fashion show. We got the opportunity to watch 3 shows consisting of ESTABLISHED DESIGNERS, viz. Babita Malkani, Aparna & Nordan Wangdi, Debarun Mukherjee, Rajat Tangri & Rimi Nayak, & ACCESSORIES DESIGNERS, viz. Eina Ahluwalia, Malini Agarwala & Suhani Pittie.

All the designers were outstanding on their part but to my thoughts BABITA MALKANI took away the whole show. Her INSPIRATION was a unique fashion experience for summer/resort 2011 at Lakmé Fashion Week.

Bringing together Indian art with Boho glam, Babita Malkani's Summer/Resort 2011 collection called “Iktar” at Lakmé Fashion Week was inspired by the Baul singers of Bengal.

After getting over with the fashion show, we grabbed the golden opportunity of meeting with the stars, viz. Sagarika, Vidya Malvade, Shree Devi, Minisha Lamba, Mark Robinson, Tanushree Dutta & many more.

The whole trip was very innovative & informative in its true sense. We loved & enjoyed it lot.

I wish & hope to be a part of more such fantastic events in the coming future & will keep on sharing such mind-blowing experiences.
