Indian designers have made quite an impact on the world specially on Canadian population through Bollywood movies.
This inspired David Anselm, owner of double storey boutique Indiva, at Yorkville to introduce India's top designers' creations to affluent, sexy and glamorous Canadian women aged 25 to 40.
The ground storey of Indiva presents womenswear, accessories and footwear. The second floor features home furnishings like drapes, carpets, pillows, bedding and table linens, all hand woven artifacts by Indian artisans.
Most work of art at Indiva is created with a combination of silk, velvet, taffeta, tiny mother of pearl and beadwork embellishments. Few can be seen in zardosi work. Even the simplest white shirt is intricately embroidered.
One Rohit Bal creation, a cream-coloured bolero and skirt crafted with lace, silk, and mother of pearl is most prized possession of the boutique.
Indiva is also showcasing expensive items like sumptuous hand spun and hand woven pashmina blankets.
David Anselm plans to open a chain of Indiva boutique in Montreal and Calgary within next three years.
