The General Assembly 2006 of Industrievereinigung Chemiefaser e. V. (IVC) took place on 23 June at the Austrian member company Lenzing AG.
The incumbent treasurer of IVC, Mr Peter Wack of Acordis AG who had held this office for many years, was not available for re-election for age reasons. The new treasurer elected by the IVC General Assembly is Mr Jochen Boos of Polyamide High Per-formance GmbH (Wuppertal).
General Business Situation The man-made fibre industry in Germany and Austria is striving for a stronger inter-national dimension to meet global challenges. This is demonstrated by the building of production sites outside Europe and by the fact that business group headquarters are frequently located outside Germany and Austria.
For example, today it is taken for granted that German man-made fibre production sites are integrated in networks of company groups headquartered in the Netherlands, in France, Italy, Poland, Turkey, the USA, Israel, India and Japan.
Against the background of globalisation, sites in Germany and Austria are seen in a more critical light. Now many technical characteristics are no longer exclusive to these countries.
A glance at the export statistics of machine manufacturers shows, in the worldwide picture, that most of the modern man-made fibre spinning and pro-cessing plants are located in Asia. Combined with good location conditions and local growth markets, China achieves an annual increase in man-made fibres of ca. 10percent while in Germany a decline of production volumes by 1.5 percent against the previous year was recorded.
