Ministry of Trade statistics revealed that in August 2006 the country imported 26.8 thousands tons of fibre, worth US $45.2 million, regestering a decline of 9.8 and 4.5 percent in terms of volume and value, respectively from same period in 2005.
However, the figures during the first eight months this year recorded sharp growth, reaching 217.6 thousands tons at $342.2 million, with year–on–year rise of 52.6 percent and 44 percent in consideration.
Taiwan remained the top supplier, with exports of 114,947 tons at $160,098,662.
