246 unprivileged students get stationeries under MAS Intimates' CSR

Washim Mia, Staff Correspondent (RMG Times)  Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is such a term with which all have a minimum familiarity. It refers to what responsibilities a corporal authority performs towards the society. This is a part of social accountability for everyone who represents the corporate entities and other organizations. In line with it MAS Intimates Bangladesh Pvt. Limited, a leading Sri Lankan owned garments factory in Bangladesh located at Karnaphuli Export Processing Zone (KEPZ), has been performing such CSR activities since the year 2015 for the wellbeing of the society and community. As part of it, MAS has distributed stationary items -school bags, pens, khatas and pencil boxes to 246 students, who are mostly unprivileged, of Meerapara Govt. Primary School free of cost on 29th of September 2018.

Mr. Chandana Galappaththi, Country Director- MAS Intimates Bangladesh Pvt. Limited, Mr. Buddhica Warunnesuriya, DGM- Human Resource, Mr. Kasshaful Haque, Manager- Human Resource, Mr. Rohan, Manager- Finance, Ms. Rekha Sheel, Head Mistress- Meerapara Govt. Primary School and Ms. Shahanur Begum, Commissioner (Ward 39, 40 & 41) – Chattogram City Corporation, were present during the distributing ceremony.

“We are very happy to be back with our CSR project as always since 2015. This time these unprivileged children have been provided some stationery items that are needed in study period. I am highly grateful to my entire MAS team for making the event successful like previous times and I would also like to thank the managing committee of Meerapara Govt. Primary School for their cooperation. I am ensuring that our CSR activities will continue to nurse the society and community in future” said Mr. Chandana Galappaththi.

MAS Intimates is one of the most established and known garments industries in KEPZ. Starting its journey in 2010, it has 3 units in KEPZ with 4500 employees. It’s an “A” type enterprise with 100% foreign investment. On 28th February 2018, MAS Intimates Bangladesh Pvt. Limited won ‘RMG Times Best Practice Award 2018’ in recognition of its effort to create positive impact towards the society.
