Icebreaker names Kimberlee Viera as US Finance Director

Kimberlee Viera has joined the United States team of Icebreaker, the New Zealand company that pioneered the outdoor merino wool apparel category, as US Finance Director. Based out of Icebreaker's US headquarters in Portland, Oregon, Viera is responsible for the finance functions across USA wholesale and retail, as well as the global e-commerce and global product design and development business units.

Viera comes to Icebreaker from Dr. Martens USA, where she was Chief Financial Officer from 2005 to the present and was an account manager from 2002 until 2005. Her 20-year accounting career path has also included stints with Wieden + Kennedy, NACCO Materials Handling Group and OESI Power Corporation.

“Kimberlee is not your run-of-the-mill finance director. She has a refreshing holistic approach to the business. That kind of vision, coupled with her great, big company experience, makes us confident she will help us find ways to enable fast and strong growth in the US market,” said Lisa Thompson, president of Icebreaker's US operation.

When not crunching numbers and making forecasts, Viera can be found hiking, running, and spending time with her girls.

Launched in 1994, Icebreaker was the first company in the world to develop a merino fibre layering system for the outdoors. It was also the first outdoor apparel company in the world to source merino directly from growers, a system it began in 1997.

The Icebreaker apparel system includes underwear, mid layer garments, outerwear, socks and accessories. There are outdoor, technical and lifestyle categories, each with its own specific fabrics and design details. Icebreaker is sold in more than 3000 stores in 43 countries.
