Next, New Look and River Island are all set to launch stores in New Shires Leicester as a part of development plan.

Hammerson and Hermes will develop the plan with an investment of £350 million.

Next will lead the way with one of its largest city centre within the mixed-use scheme.

This store will be five and half times larger than its current unit in the Shires and will offer its extended product range.

The three-floored shop will be occupying 4533 m2 (48800 ft2).

River Island outlet will be spread on two levels covering about 1184 m2 (12744 ft2) almost double the size of its current presence in Leicester.

New Look will also operate from two levels with a 2230 m2 (23244 ft2) of area.

The retailer will introduce its menswear for the first time in Leicester.

When completed in 2008 the entire development will provide over 100000 m2 (1076400 ft2) of retail space, 6000 m2 (65000 ft2) of new family-based catering and leisure amenities, a 7000 m2 (75400 ft2) multiplex cinema, three major department stores, John Lewis, House of Fraser, and Debenhams.

The plan will also include over 3000 parking spaces, new public transport facilities, and 120 new homes.
