Nike and Reebok are arguably the biggest rivals of the internationally branded world.
Of the many famous sponsorship disagreements they have had, a new one has just erupted.
Nike became the official sponsor of the Indian Cricket Team with its record bid of Rs197 crore, overriding Reebok in the process.
However, Reebok seems to be against the players wearing the rival Nike logo on their pants, when it already has sponsored most of them.
Sources informed that Collage Sports, which manages Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir, has received a letter from Reebok claiming that Gambhir had a contract with them and could not sport the Nike logo.
Reebok is the official sponsor of several other Indian players including captain Rahul Dravid, MS Dhoni, Irfan Pathan, Yuvraj Singh, VVS Laxman, Harbhajan Singh and Ajit Agarkar.
Sanjay Gangopadhyay, Marketing Director, Nike India, commented that Reebok should not have any problem with Nike logo on the players' trousers.
