Mothers Work brand Destination Maternity celebrates the opening of its world flagship store on Madison Avenue in New York City on February 1, 2006.
The world's largest maternity store will offer the most extraordinary selection of maternity fashion, accessories, maternity spa services and everything imaginable for the pregnant woman, in a three-level, 10,000-square-foot space.
Destination Maternity provides the pregnant woman with the luxurious fashion of A Pea in the Pod(R), contemporary Mimi Maternity(R) and Motherhood(R) Maternity with amazing fashion at amazingly low prices. The Edamame Maternity Spa(TM), learning studio, children's play area and husbands' relax area complete the experience. It is a one stop shopping experience that celebrates the most special nine months in a woman's life.
An elegant black granite portal leads into a mini art gallery, featuring sculpture and paintings celebrating motherhood. On opening day, there will be an exhibit of mother and child sculptures and aquatints by the world-renowned Twentieth Century British artist Henry Moore.
In addition, Ice Woman, a nine-foot ice sculpture of a nude pregnant figure on the sidewalk outside the store, will set the stage for the Art of Maternity and welcome visitors to the grand opening.
Passing through the gallery, you reach A Pea in the Pod, a favorite among "A" list celebrities including Cate Blanchett, Britney Spears and Debra Messing. A Pea in the Pod offers exclusive access to designer labels.
