Specialty women's apparel retailer Cache Inc has reported its February 2006 sales figures.
Same store sales decreased 3 percent during the four week February 2006 period, as compared to the same period in 2005. Total sales for the four-week period ended February 25th 2006 decreased $0.6 million or 2 percent to $20.0 million.
Same store sales decreased 1 percent during the eight-week period ended February 25th 2006, as compared to the same period in 2005. Total sales for the eight-week period decreased $0.5 million or 1 percent to $34.4 million.
Brian Woolf, Cache's Chairman said, "February comparable store sales were affected by the unusually high levels of clearance activity from last year. While this caused negative comps in the first two weeks of the month, we experienced a solid rebound in the business, which enabled us to record positive comp sales during the second two weeks of February, even as stores closed due to the snowstorms.”
“We were also pleased by the strength of our regular price sales during the month with particularly strong gains in sportswear separates," he added.
For the year-to-date period, the company has opened no new stores and has closed 6 stores and expects to open approx. 15 to 20 new stores in fiscal 2006.
