Adidas has found out a way to bypass International Olympic Committee regulations which restricts use of three-stripe design on athletes' kit.
The sportswear company's 2006 Winter Olympics kit in Turin had the three stripes logo but with a slight variation in design, which is not instantly recognisable as Adidas' trademark logo.
This has opened opportunities for sportswear manufacturers to create Olympic clothing designs using their brand identity elements.
The Adidas kit's three-stripe logo limited to 20 square centimeters of branded space afforded to all sportswear manufacturers by the IOC has been ratified by it for use in the winter events.
New design if used continuously, may turn into a recognisable Adidas logo in a few years time.
IOC would then face similar situation when Adidas' rivals met with success earlier this year, for placing restrictions on the use of three stripes.
Adidas claimed that the new design was for next year's Olympics and not for its product range.
