Leggett & Platt declares Q3 dividend 6.3%

Diversified manufacturer Leggett & Platt's Board of Directors declared a quarterly dividend of $.17 per share today. This is a 6.3 percent increase over last year's third quarter dividend of $.16 per share. The dividend will be paid on October 13, 2006 to shareholders of record on September 15, 2006.

The company's dividends have increased annually for 35 consecutive years, at an average compound growth rate of 14 percent. Leggett knows of only one other Fortune 500 company with as long a string of consecutive annual increases at as high a compound growth rate.

Leggett's third quarter results will be released after the market closes on Thursday, October 19, 2006. There will be a conference call at 9:00 a.m. (Eastern) on Friday, October 20.
