The Wet Seal Inc a leading specialty retailer to young women, reported comparable store sales increased 1.7% for the four-week period ended September 1, 2007, compared to the four-week period ended September 2, 2006.
This compares to prior guidance of -2% to +2% for the month. The Company reported an 8.7% increase in comparable store sales in fiscal August last year.
Net sales for the four-week period ended September 1, 2007 were $56.1 million, compared to net sales of $51.2 million reported for the four-week period ended August 26, 2006.
Joel Waller, chief executive officer of The Wet Seal, Inc., commented: "We saw improving traffic trends in August and we were pleased with the strength of the business in the last three weeks of the month. We are encouraged by the sales so far of our fall product line."
