Sportswear maker Cache Inc, a specialty chain of women's apparel stores with 298 stores open, reported August 2005 sales figures.
Comparable store sales (sales for stores open at least one year or more) increased 11 percent during the four week August 2005 period, as compared to the same period in 2004. Total sales for the four-week period ended August 27, 2005 increased $2.4 million or 16.4 percent to $17.0 million.
Comparable store sales increased 4 percent during the 34-week period ended August 27, 2005, as compared to the same period in 2004. Total sales for the 34 week period increased $16.8 million or 11.5 percent to $162.3 million.
Brian Woolf, Cache's Chairman commented: "The momentum they've been experiencing at Cache continued in August, as evidenced by 11 percent comparable store sales increase for the month. We are extremely pleased with our casual fashion assortments as we head into the fall selling season, and our customers are clearly responding to the newness in our product lines."
For the year-to-date period, the Company has opened 10 new stores and has closed 3 stores in Fiscal 2005 and expects to open approximately another 15 stores for a total of approximately 25 new stores in Fiscal 2005.

Cache targets women between the ages of 25 and 45 who have a youthful attitude, are self-confident and fashion-conscious, and require a missy fit. Lillie Rubin stores offer a more sophisticated line of social occasion apparel targeting women between the ages of 35 and 55.
