Century Textiles opens new state-of-the-art mill in Gujarat

Century Textiles & Industries Ltd. (CTIL, Flagship Company of B K Birla Group) announces the opening of its new state-of-the-art mill, Birla Century. Shri Narendra Modi, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Gujarat inaugurated the mill in the presence of CTIL Chairman Mr. B K Birla, Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla and other dignitaries.
Also, present on the occasion were Shri Saurabh Patel, Minister of State for Finance & Energy, Mrs. Sarala Birla, Mrs. Rajashree Birla and Mrs. Neerja Birla.
Located near Jhagadia in the Bharuch district of Gujarat, Birla Century is spread over 100 acres of land.The total constructed area of the mill covers about 45 acres of land and another 40 acres has been utilized for landscaping. The mill has a capacity of producing around 25 million meters of high quality fine and super fine 100% cotton fabrics with employee strength of about 1,200 people.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. B K Birla, Chairman CTIL said, “Century Textiles & Industries Ltd. over decades has multiplied manifold in respect of plants, products and reach. Birla Century is another landmark on the road to success for CTIL. The Birla Group foresees Birla Century as redefining the dynamics of the textile industry.”
Commenting on the opening of the mill Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla said, “We are extremely thankful to the Gujarat Govt. especially Mr. Narendra Modi for supporting our endeavors in continuing the legacy of the Birla Group. We expect Birla Century to have a turnover of about Rs. 500 crore with around 50% of earnings coming from exports to countries like USA, UK, Europe and Japan.”
Set up with an investment of about Rs. 850 crore Birla Century has state-of-the-art machines with about 95% of them imported from countries such as Germany, Switzerland, Belgium and USA. Birla Century also has an Effluent Treatment Plant with zero discharge and a captive power plant generating energy from piped natural gas.
By maintaining customer focus and earning valuable foreign exchange as the prime objective and bringing about a revolutionary approach in the manufacturing of cotton fabrics, Birla Century is poised to become another feather in the cap of the Birla Group.
