Sears Canada has been advised by one of its children's apparel makers of a potential hazard relating to the Sears Baby brand infant 2-piece fleece hooded top & pant set.
Sears is issuing this notice to alert customers of a potential choking hazard involving the zipper pull. It has been discovered that the heart zipper pull on the fleece top may come off, creating a potential choking hazard.
The girl's 2-piece outfit consists of a long sleeve fleece hooded top and a fleece pant. The set available in Sears department stores fits infants 20 - 36lbs.
The set available in catalogue fits infants 20 - 36lbs, as well as sizes 3 and 3X. The outfits were available in a range of colours including: pink, butter, lilac, aqua, periwinkle and rose.
The Sears item numbers found on the care tag located on the back of the neck of the outfits are: 50689, 50690, 50691, 50692, 50693, 50694, 13012 and 13013. The retail and catalogue price is $12.97. The outfit was sold in Sears department stores from August 2005, and was available in catalogue from May 2005.
Although there have been no reported choking incidents, customers who have these outfits should stop using them immediately and return them to a Sears department store or catalogue centre if purchased through the catalogue department, for a full refund. The receipt (bill of sale) is not required. Catalogue customers will also be contacted by mail.
Sears Canada immediately removed the item off sale and will be posting signs in all of its retail stores to advise customers of this recall. Sears Canada is bringing this matter to the public's attention in the interest of consumer safety and apologizes for any inconvenience.
