China proves its excellence in global textile market, states NDRC

Textile industry of China has emerged to be a key segment with considerably solid competitiveness in international market because of industrial reform and upgrade, stated National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).
China's textile sales were around 3.3 trillion Yuan (US $408 billion) in 2005, swelling 115.7 percent from 2001, NDRC report said.
In apparel exports, China registered an increase of 118.9 percent to US $116 billion in 2005.
Major textile players recorded US $60.7 billion in 2005, an increase of 119.1 percent.
More than 19 million people were employed by textile firms, and over 70 percent of the employees came from rural areas, the report said.
