Fashionology Group LLC ("Fashionology") announced that Mark Mendelson has been named President of Ellen Tracy LLC ("Ellen Tracy"). Fashionology acquired the Ellen Tracy brand early in April, 2008.
Mr. Mendelson comes to Ellen Tracy from Ann Taylor, where he most recently headed their new concept division. Prior thereto, from 2001 to 2006, Mr. Mendelson was with Jones New York, where he served as Chief Merchandising Officer for Jones Apparel. From 1998 to 2001, Mr. Mendelson was President of Elie Tahari.
In his role as President of Ellen Tracy, Mr. Mendelson will focus on building an organizational infrastructure, including a revamping of the creative and marketing teams, that will drive the brand's return to a dominant place in the luxury sportswear sector.
In a jointly-released statement, Fashionology Co-Chairmen, Jamie Salter and William Sweedler, said, "We are elated to have Mark with us.
He is a great merchant and a world-class marketer who understands the original DNA of the Ellen Tracy brand. We are confident he will make exactly the right connection between Ellen Tracy and consumers."
Commenting on his new responsibilities, Mr. Mendelson said, "I am excited about the upside potential in Ellen Tracy. It is a powerful brand that simply needs to be taken in the right direction.
I look forward to working closely with the Fashionology team. They have created an environment in which creativity and marketing can flourishside-by-side with sound operational strategies."
