Customs statistics show that footwear exports of Heilongjiang Province reached 1165 lots from January to August, worth of US $38.75 million, representing year-on-year increase of 2.9 and 76.9 percent, respectively. Heilongjiang-made-shoes accounted for about 50 percent of the total exports, with no unqualified products.
It is reported that Heilongjiang exports footwear to 30 countries and regions, mainly to Russia, the US, Japan, Denmark, and the UAE.
In the first eight months of this year, the province exported 588 lots of shoes to Russia at $24.91 million, gaining 600 and 116 percent, respectively.
According to reports, Russian Customs and testing agencies have set up new regulations this year that all footwear entering the country must obtain mandatory product certification and logo from here, before normal customs clearance. Prior to the implementation of these new regulations, shoes were mostly carried by passengers or in the form of parcels through gray clearance channel.
