Minister KT Rama Rao seeks National Design Centre in Hyderabad, India

Telangana state information technology and industries minister KT Rama Rao recently requested Indian minister of textiles and commerce and industry Piyush Goyal to set up of the first National Design Centre (NDC) in Hyderabad. A detailed project report (DPR) for the same was submitted to the central government.

The DPR explained the activities to be undertaken to make the NDC self-sustaining in nearly six years post commencement of operations.

The state government can support 50 per cent of the deficit in operational funds requirement until the NDC becomes self-sustainable, on equal sharing basis with the central government, according to media reports from the state.

The cost-sharing by the state government in operational expenditure will be in addition to the 30 acres of prime land provided free of cost in University of Hyderabad campus adjacent to National Institute of Animal Biotechnology (NIAB) in Gopanpally, Hyderabad.

A representation was also submitted to Goyal in New Delhi to extend financial support for establishing the Kakatiya Mega Textiles Park in Warangal.

“In the first phase, we have agglomerated 1,200 acres and have identified marquee names as anchor clients, including Youngone from Korea and Kitex from Kerala. The state government have already obtained environment clearance for the park and have also been able to put in all the required basic infrastructure like water and power connection for construction purposes, road connectivity etc,” he was quoted as saying.
