The webinar, to be held in association with Fibre2Fashion, is scheduled for Thursday, July 29, 5.00 p.m. India time.
The webinar acquires significance as 'sustainability' is now more important than ever before in the textiles and fashion industry. It is becoming more than “must have” and is a now a distinctive advantage for the textile business operations. "The textile supply chains are now witnessing the period of ever-growing demand for supply chain transparency and traceability," according to the organisers.
Cotton Council International's sustainability advisor Tara Luckman will update the audience on the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol. Through the Protocol, U.S. cotton has set out to create a new standard that brings quantifiable and verifiable goals and measurement to the issue of more sustainable cotton production. The objective is to drive continuous measurable improvement in key sustainability metrics towards 2025 U.S. cotton national goals. Garry Bell, consultant at Cotton Council International, will speak on Protocol's credit management platform.
Representing SUPIMA®, its president and CEO Marc Lewkowitz, and brand development manager Jason Thompson will throw light on the extra-long staple fibre that gives the cotton its premium properties: strength, softness and colour retention. Further, the farming practices employed in growing SUPIMA® set environmental and ethical standards for cotton around the world. SUPIMA® is able to authenticate its cotton across the entire supply from the fiber and yarn to the fabric and finished product at retail. Incidentally, India is amongst the largest users of SUPIMA®.
Jane Singer, managing director, Inside Fashion, would also speak on 'Global Consumers Raise the Bar for Sustainability: What they want and How manufacturers can deliver this' at the event.
