Hudson Jeans, a denim brand, has launched non-medical masks crafted in signature denim and other standout prints bringing the skilled workforce back to work. This came amidst the Covid-19 impact on more than half of the population of Los Angeles under unemployment, according to a national survey from the USC Dornsife Center for Economic and Social Research.

“We’ve retooled our in-house production facility to make non-medical masks using up-cycled denim and other cotton fabrics. This initiative allows for us to bring back to work our highly skilled sewers. I’m very grateful to be able to support our team in this way at this critical time. These individuals are the heart of Hudson. We are very fortunate to be able to call upon them to use their skill set to continue to help flatten the curve,” Maria Borromeo, CEO of Hudson Jeans, said in a press release.

“My team and I are so happy to be here. I love my job with all my heart and I’m excited to be here to help,” Ninfa Alvarez, Hudson’s sample room manager, said in a press release. “I’m also glad we’re making the masks with ties, they are simply more comfortable for people to wear.”

The mask collections will be sold in packs of three on HudsonJeans.com. Revenue from the sale of the masks will cover wages for the Hudson craftspeople who sew these masks by hand. Remaining proceeds will be donated to Path’s Covid-19 fund, a SoCal nonprofit providing lifesaving services to the homeless and others in need.
