John Barton to join Ted Baker board from July 1

Ted Baker, the global lifestyle brand, has confirmed that following the announcement on April 22, 2020 of the appointment of John Barton as non-executive chairman, he will join the group and be appointed to the board with effect from July 1, 2020. Also, Sharon Baylay will continue in her role as acting chair until Barton joins the board.

Baylay confirmed that she will not seek re-election to the board at the annual general meeting on July 21, 2020.

"We are delighted to be welcoming John to the board and look forward to benefitting from his significant experience leading consumer facing businesses,” Helena Feltham, senior independent director, said in a press release.

On behalf of the board I would like to thank Baylay for her strong leadership and commitment during her time at Ted Baker, in particular as acting chair. Over recent months Baylay has guided the board through a significant period of change, including with the appointment of a new chief executive in Rachel Osborne and the successful equity raise to support the transformation strategy."

"I am very proud to have served on the Ted Baker board and to have chaired the company at a critical time in its history. With the recapitalisation complete and a strong management team and compelling growth strategy in place, I am confident that the right foundations are in place to create value for all of Ted Baker's stakeholders in the years ahead,” Baylay said.

I will step down from the board with effect from the conclusion of the AGM and I would like to wish John, the rest of the board and the group the very best for the future."
