London retail sales drop despite concessions

Discount offers as much as 75 percent, failed to attract consumers following the holiday season.

The sales were lower than the past year but the figures sank to surprisingly low levels after the Boxing Day.

The footfall dropped by 12 percent compared to 2004.

Increasing customer arrears in the UK may be one of the reasons for shrinking markets.

High street sales growth was reported to be less than that in 2004, the slowest in 20 years.
