Retailer Country Road beat tend and records sales rise

Retailer and wholesaler Country Road Ltd has posted a 6.7 percent rise in retail sales for the first six months of the financial year, one percent higher than the earlier corresponding period.
Country Road posted a net profit of $3.2 million in 2004-05, up $2.5 million compared to earlier year.
Ian Moir, CEO, Country Road said the retail sales growth has been encouraging compared to sluggish market conditions.
Reduction in sales but improving profits in wholesale business has proved to be successful and as per the budget, he said.
Country Road apparel unit sales increased by 32 percent and homeware unit sales grew by 12 percent.
