3DLook, an AI-first technology company that digitises human body data to bring fit and sizing intelligence to the apparel industry, has raised $1 million in a pre-series A round, led by ICU Ventures. The funding will be used to scale its R&D team and support its fast-growing list of customers who need contactless measurement solutions to run their businesses.

The company plans to raise a Series A round early next year. Its goal is to maximise the fit opportunity by providing body data intelligence to brands, retailers, and manufacturers.

"The lockdown has accelerated the demand for contactless measurement solutions to support the fast-growing made-to-measure sector as well as major uniform manufacturers who have relied on in-person size and fitting events requiring a human touch. As such, the funds will be used to scale and strengthen the team to support its newly launched suite of products for its current and new enterprise clients," the US-based company said in a press release.

The team raised a total of $4.2 million to date, the investors include Boost VC, 500 Startups, ICU Ventures, U Ventures, Solid5 and supermodel Natalia Vodianova.

"Longer-term, our vision is to create the market for body data by becoming the standard in mobile body scanning and 3D model generation, so that consumers in every part of the globe will have access to their mobile digital passports where they will store their measurements and avatars. The digital passport will be used not just for size recommendations or ordering custom made garments, but also far beyond the apparel industry — in health & fitness, gaming, etc. The fashion industry is just the first one to massively adopt the mobile body scanning technology — and the demand is growing daily," Vadim Rogovskiy, co-founder and CEO at 3DLook, said.

3DLook’s mobile body scanning platform helps optimise inventory and size runs based on body shape to reduce returns and deliver products faster that will fit the customer. "Businesses benefit with insights to bring increased efficiency to design, product development, and the manufacturing supply chain," the release added.

3DLook has recently deployed the solution in over 200 stores of a major multi-billion retailer in the US and plans to deploy in 1,000 more within a month. Overall, 3DLook works with more than 25 fashion and uniform companies around the world.
