Poland's retail sales drop 4.0% YoY in July 2023

Poland's retail sales at constant prices fell by 4.0 per cent YoY in July 2023, according to Statistics Poland.
Sales increased by 1.9 per cent from June 2023, and YoY sales from January-July 2023 decreased by 5.4 per cent.
Online retail sales rose by 4.0 per cent in July 2023, with the share of online sales in total sales growing slightly to 7.9 per cent.

In July 2023, retail sales in Poland at constant prices were 4.0 per cent year-on-year (YoY) lower against an increase of 2.0 per cent in July 2022. Compared with June 2023, an increase of 1.9 per cent in retail sales was recorded.

In the period of January-July 2023, sales decreased YoY by 5.4 per cent—in 2022 there was a growth of 8.0 per cent, Statistics Poland said in a press release.

In July compared with June 2023, an increase of 4.0 per cent in online retail sales value at current prices was recorded. The share of online sales in ‘total’ sales increased from 7.7 per cent in June to 7.9 per cent in July 2023.

Among the presented groups with a significant share of online sales, there was an increase in share for products falling under the category of ‘textiles, clothing, footwear’—from 16.9 per cent a month ago to 18.6 per cent.
