TAL Apparel completes 1 successful year with Nutanix suite

Nutanix, a leader in enterprise cloud computing, has announced that TAL Apparel Limited, a global garment manufacturing giant, has successfully completed one year deploying the Nutanix Enterprise Cloud Platform, to embrace IT transformation, reduce time for IT infrastructure management, and to focus more resources on leading innovations in garment sector.

Complex issues in IT infrastructure and shortage of skilled IT talent in local markets made it challenging for TAL Apparel to maintain operations of their IT facilities in new factories located in Asian high-growth markets such as Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam. To enhance operational efficiency and support further business expansion, TAL Apparel began identifying vendors to transform their IT operations and embrace a simple, yet scalable IT infrastructure.

With the deployment of Nutanix solutions, all existing applications, including the JBoss application server on Linux, Apache webserver, IBM WebSphere application server, IBM DB2 and file server, as well as network services including Windows Active Directory, DHCP and DNS servers were successfully migrated to the new platform.

Having deployed the Nutanix solutions at the corporate offices in Hong Kong and factories in eight countries across Asia over the past year, TAL Apparel was able to reduce the time needed for day-to-day infrastructure management by 65 per cent, mainly from the provisioning, as well as backup and restoring of virtual machines. TAL Apparel’s IT administrators were also able to leverage one-click non-disruptive upgrades and preventive alerts from Nutanix, enabling them to reduce overall operating costs and time spent on constant manual supervision across different locations.

Kai Kiang, vice president, information technology of TAL Apparel Limited said, “With years of experience deploying legacy infrastructures in multiple markets, we believe that web-scale, hyperconvergence, and cloud-like infrastructure should be our way moving forward. The Nutanix Enterprise Cloud Platform enabled us to evolve past our legacy IT infrastructure and scale out anytime, anywhere.”

Edward Yeung, managing director, Hong Kong and Taiwan, Nutanix said, “Nutanix is committed to supporting TAL Apparel’s continuous growth with our enterprise cloud solutions, bringing more value to their IT environment. Our enterprise cloud offerings not only allow TAL Apparel and other customers to embrace the evolution of next generation enterprise IT infrastructures with ease, our solutions also enable easy, non-disruptive upgrades and automatic dispatch of preventive alerts to ensure operational efficiency.” (GK)
