Initial testing of the system concentrated on the textile sector within an industrial district in the province of Modena, in collaboration with some medium-sized German firms. The second testing phase focused on the mechanical industry, specifically the moulding of plastic and metal parts.
SEWASIE finished at the end of April 2005, and project completion has lead to the submission of a new European patent on elements of the matching process.
Certain SEWASIE partners are also preparing to submit a follow-up project to develop a commercial version of the system. Finally, the partners may be able to make elements of the system available to the Open Source community, says Bergamaschi.
