One of the leading outerwear and apparel retailer Burlington Coat Factory Warehouse Corporation has optimized its workforce processes across its more than 360 retail stores in 42 states.

"They have a highly distributed and complex workforce which can be challenging to manage. With Workbrain for Retail, they are streamlining time and attendance and scheduling, improving payroll accuracy and providing managers with easy-to-use reporting and analytics tools,” said Brad Friedman, Vice President of Information Services, Burlington Coat Factory.

Prior to implementing Workbrain for Retail, Burlington Coat Factory was using a cumbersome workforce management system that required significant manual intervention. The legacy system was unable to handle the complexities of the retailer's highly distributed and diverse workforce – where pay rules varied not only from one state to another, but also within states. "The old system required lots of different pieces communicating with each other. Any hiccup along the way would be disastrous and would take a lot of effort to restore,” said Friedman. “They needed a solution that would take us into the future, as opposed to trying to manage things from the past.”

Since deploying Workbrain for Retail to its 29,000 employees, Burlington Coat Factory has transformed workforce processes. In addition to assisting store managers build employee schedules more efficiently, the solution has automated time capture, attendance tracking, leave management and payroll calculations for its employees. Store associates are now able to punch into secondary locations while still paying out of the home store, and to punch in and out of different departments within the same store to accurately track labor dollars. In addition, store managers can access the system to collect real-time labor information including employee time, schedules, balances and overtime worked. The result is more efficient workforce processes and greater labor intelligence – which improves store performance.
