Milliken & Company announced the formation of a dedicated business group to provide Performance Improvement Services to manufacturing companies. The new group is called Milliken Performance Solutions and will be based in Milliken's Spartanburg, South Carolina headquarters.
Milliken is well-positioned to leverage its broad experience in manufacturing, engineering, business systems and technology development from a 142 year history. For a number of years, this experience has been provided to both suppliers and customers as part of a focus on supply chain development. The formation of Milliken Performance Solutions will expand these services to support companies outside of Milliken's traditional base and will report to Craig Long, Vice President of Six Sigma and Quality.
“The decision to provide performance services is a direct result of companies across the United States requesting Milliken's assistance to improve operating performance as the competitive bar has been continuously raised,” said Long.
Core offerings of the new group will include the Milliken Performance System and the Milliken Safety Process. The Milliken Performance System is a daily management system that provides a systematic, step by step method of running any operation more effectively and efficiently. The system is in place at over 60 plants worldwide and can support both discrete and continuous process manufacturing plants.
The system overcomes the limitations of conventional Lean Six Sigma programs by providing a more comprehensive approach that leads to dramatic breakthroughs in cost reduction, higher morale, increased customer satisfaction, and a cleaner safer environment. The Milliken Safety Process provides comprehensive assessment, planning and management to ensure a safe working environment. As a result, Milliken is one of the safest companies in the United States as rated by OSHA and the National Safety Council.
