Bon-Ton installs GeM2020 physical inventory solution

SofTechnics, a leading provider of integrated retail software solutions, announced that Bon-Ton has successfully implemented the GeM2020 Physical Inventory solution. Bon-Ton, founded in 1898, is a traditional department store retailer operating 277 stores, which includes eight furniture galleries across the Northeastern, Midwestern, and upper Great Plains states.
Bon-Ton, one of the largest regional department store chains in the United States, operates under the Bon-Ton, Bergner's, Boston Store, Carson Pirie Scott, Elder-Beerman, Herberger's, and Younkers nameplates and under the Parisian nameplate, two stores in the Detroit, Michigan area.
SofTechnics' GeM2020 is a full-featured, retail in-store application suite providing wireless mobile inventory and pricing management. The system is modular allowing the retailer to select and implement applications at their pace and customize the solution to meet the specific needs of their individual operation. GeM2020's parameter driven configuration also provides a quicker installation and ROI.
“The Bon-Ton implementation of the GeM2020 Physical Inventory module represents our goal to eliminate third party inventory costs, maximize use of in-house equipment, reduce internal labor cost, and provide accurate inventory information,” said Deborah Pekala, Divisional Vice President, Inventory Control.
“The system increased our units scanned per hour by 10%, reducing labor cost by 7%. We achieved a per unit cost reduction of 40% in our first inventory. Feedback from our store managers indicated the system was very easy to use.”
