Wacker & Dymatic to jointly tap Chinese textile, leather & fiber markets for silicone products

Chemical company Wacker-Chemie GmbH and Dymatic Chemicals Inc have set up a joint venture (JV) in Shunde (China) for the manufacture and marketing of silicone products used primarily in the textile, leather and fiber industries.
The joint venture, operating as Wacker Dymatic Silicones Shunde Co Ltd, aims to provide the Chinese market with silicone emulsions and process auxiliaries ideally suited to local needs. Business operations are scheduled to start before the end of this year.
WACKER will continue to directly support Chinese-based international producers. Likewise, WACKER will continue directly supplying local Chinese processors with the starting materials for finished silicone products.
Dr. Christoph von Plotho, President of WACKER SILICONES states that China is an extremely important market for them. China's textile industry has become the largest producer worldwide. Market experts anticipate further growth of 15 to 20 percent for 2005. The demand for silicone products in this sector is developing at a similar rate.
Dymatic's extensive distribution network will allow WACKER to penetrate China's textile, leather and fiber markets far more quickly than would have been possible alone. Dymatic is a leading Chinese supplier of process auxiliaries and finishing agents based on silicones and organic chemicals. In return, the partnership will give Dymatic access to state-of-the-art silicone products.
WACKER has decades of experience in the development and manufacture of silicones and today ranks as the world's third largest silicone producer. For more than 30 years, WACKER has been supplying silicones to its Chinese customers in all key sectors. In Shanghai, the WACKER Group has operated its own silicone emulsion production plant since 2004.
