Chemical fibre industry at present seems in a state of saturation for a while, but then too some of the major nylon fabric manufacturers in Taiwan still intends to expand their production output, with the world's leading textile producer Li Peng Eng Enterprise Co. aiming to establish the world's largest nylon chip plant.
Li Peng is presently approaching Japanese and South Korean leading companies for possible co-operation. Li Peng plans to invest NT$1bn (US$29.41mn at US$1 = NT$34) to establish the world's largest nylon chip plant with a daily output of 300 tons, to fulfil the market demand.
The company has recently invested NT1.2bn (US$35.29mn) to establish three more production lines to turn out mainly semi-dull nylon chips, full-dull nylon chips and engineering industrial-use nylon chips. A senior official at the company disclosed that each of the three new production lines has a daily production capacity of 100 tons of nylon chips. Two of them have already been completed, and the third one is slated for completion by the end of this month.
The official said that Li Peng used to have only one production line for nylon fabrics, generating about 200 tons of semi-dull nylon chips per day. And now the company is able to flexibly turn out different kinds of nylon chips in much larger volume after the three lines become operational.
Li Peng believed that its products are quite competitive in the international market even if compared with those made in China. Moreover, the company has gained many business opportunities as some of the world's leading nylon makers have recently withdrawn from the market.
