The Swiss specialty chemicals company, Clariant, is to sell the assets and business of the TLP division (Textile, Leather and Paper) of Clariant Australia to its associate company, Chemcolour Industries Australia Pty Ltd. Clariant will continue its Australian operations of Pigments & Additives and Functional Chemicals division.

The merger of the Clariant Australia TLP division with Chemcolour's Australian operation will ensure Clariant remains focused on its core competencies while customers continue to receive high quality service through Chemcolour Industries Australia as a leading supplier to the Australian Textile, Leather and Paper industries. As the exclusive distributor for Clariant, Chemcolour will provide the full range of Clariant TLP product offerings to the Australian market.

Clariant Australia TLP Division employs 35 staff at a manufacturing operation in Sydney and marketing offices/applications development laboratories in Melbourne. Continuity of service and product knowledge will be retained with all staff transferring to the new company.

The Sydney manufacturing plant is a leading producer of wax based products for the paper and plasterboard industries, specialty chemicals for the leather and textile industries and chemicals for the construction industry in Australia and selected export markets. Chemcolour Industries Australia plan to optimise site manufacturing capabilities to become an important player in the Australian toll manufacturing sector.
